Singer-Songwriter Sharmila Raises Awareness Through Music Inspired by Her Life in the Netherlands

SchipolRijk, Amsterdam Jul 16, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Singer-songwriter Sharmila is using her music and personal journey to raise awareness about the experiences of refugees, women of color, and single mothers while encouraging conversations about inclusion, dignity, and human rights.

Known for her pop and R&B music, Sharmila also holds degrees in social work and has dedicated more than 20 years to supporting vulnerable communities. Throughout her career, she has worked with children's homes, women's shelters, and organizations assisting refugees.

According to Sharmila, her own life experiences in the Netherlands inspired her to combine music with advocacy. She says her journey has strengthened her commitment to speaking on behalf of individuals facing social challenges and barriers.

Through her songs and public outreach, Sharmila hopes to encourage empathy, understanding, and constructive dialogue about the importance of equal opportunities, respect, and support for vulnerable communities.

Her advocacy is also deeply personal. As a single mother, Sharmila says her experiences have shaped both her creative work and her mission to inspire hope and resilience in others facing difficult circumstances.

"Music allows me to share my experiences in a way that encourages understanding, compassion, and meaningful conversations," said Sharmila. "I hope my story inspires others to remain hopeful and to believe that every voice deserves to be heard."

Sharmila continues to develop new music while supporting initiatives that promote awareness, inclusion, and positive social change. She hopes her work will encourage audiences around the world to reflect on the importance of dignity, compassion, and equal treatment for all.
